Garden City is a village home in Long Island only 30 minutes from LaGuardia and JFK airports. Alexander Turney Stewart purchased a portion of land in an area of Hempstead Plains and founded the Village of Garden City in 1869. His wife, Cornelia founded many of the establishments in the village including St Paul’s School for boys, Gothic Cathedral of the Incarnation, and St. Mary’s School for girls. During the 20's families moved the area and the area began to boom at which time many homes were in the area.

Garden City has its own school district which offers 7 seven schools including 3 primary schools, 2 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The Adelphi University which is the oldest institution on Long Island is also home in Garden City. The area is home to at least 1,100 businesses and more than 3 million square feet of commercial property.

The most popular attractions in Garden City include the Cradle of Aviation Museum, the Long Island Children's Museum, and the Firefighters Museum & Education Center.
